Tremors were felt in a vast area more than 1500 km far from the epicenter. It was felt in Russia, Japan and China.

Following USGS PAGER MAP, just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Poronaysk, Smirnykh, Leonidovo, Gastello, Vakhrushev, Shakhtersk, Tymovskoye, Makarov, Boshnyakovo, Aleksandrovsk-Sakhalinskiy and Mgachi.

The quake was mildly felt on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido and in the northeastern section of Honshu.
The quake was rated 3 on the Japanese seismic scale of 1-7.

Now USGS mentions magnitude 7.7 earthquake. The pager map is still to come. After pager map approximate felt intensity along with location will be known.

USGS has updated the data. Earlier two earthquakes of magnitude 7.3 were flashed (need to change the post title now) followed with earthquake in Northern California. BUT now USGS mentions just one M 7.3 quake in Sea of Okhotsk (and NO EARTHQUAKE IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA) with epicenter location as follows:
158 km (98 miles) ENE of Poronaysk, Russia
226 km (140 miles) ENE of Shakhtersk, Russia
236 km (146 miles) ENE of Uglegorsk, Russia
243 km (150 miles) ESE of Aleksandrovsk-Sakhalinskiy, Russia
Two magnitude 7.3 earthquakes rock Sea of Okhotsk today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
According ot the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 168 km (105 miles) ENE (71°) from Poronaysk, Russia. Both quakes were around 362 miles deep.
Tremors will have felt widely across 1000 km from epicenter (common in case of deep earthquakes).
The Sea of Okhotsk is a marginal sea of the western Pacific Ocean, lying between the Kamchatka Peninsula on the east, the Kuril Islands on the southeast, the island of Hokkaidō to the south, the island of Sakhalin along the west, and a long stretch of eastern Siberian coast (including the Shantar Islands) along the west and north.
No tsunami warning issued for these earthquake with epicenter in the Sea of Ohkotsk.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
