M 4.5 moderate earthquake shakes Central California today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located five miles from Parkfield, California, about 30 miles northeast of Paso Robles. It was 7.2 miles deep.

Following USGS PAGER MAP, Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Coalinga and San Miguel. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Avenal, Shandon, Lake Nacimiento, Paso Robles, Hanford, Tulare, Visalia, Fresno and Salinas.

The 2003 Working Group for California Earthquake Probability assigned a 21% probability that the San Andreas Fault would produce a magnitude 6.7 or larger earthquake in the next 30 years.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
