2012 Sukabumi Earthquake-106 Houses Damaged, Well Felt In Jakarta

Disaster Report: M 5.9 strong earthquake shakes Java, Indonesia today local time 12:18. The quake's epicenter was152 km S Depok and 171 km SSW of  capital Jakarta.

-106 houses reported to be damaged by this Sukabumi quake. Out of which 12 are badly damaged.
-Two people suffered minor injuries.
-The hamlet of Desa Cilodog reported to be the worst-hit.

M 5.9 strong earthquake shakes Java, Indonesia today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According ot the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake epicenter was located 35km (22mi) SSW of Cibungur and 77km (48mi) S of Pelabuhanratu, Indonesia. It was 41.8 miles deep.
No Tsunami warning was issued.

According to USG pager map, light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Pelabuhanratu, Sukabumi, Cicurug, Caringin 2, Banjar, Bogor and Depok. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Cibadak, Bandung, Tangerang, Bekasi and Jakarta.

The 2012 Indonesian earthquake of M 8.6 was the 11th strongest earthquake since 1900, an unusually strong intraplate earthquake, and the largest strike-slip earthquake ever recorded.
The country registers 6,000-7,000 earthquakes with a magnitude of 4.0 or above annually.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
