-Minor damage reported. Just cracks in older brick buildings.
-60 aftershocks were recorded in Australia on Wednesday but most of them were small.
-Experts warned that another major earthquake could hit Victoria within 12 months.

M 5.2 earthquake hits Melbourne, Australia this Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was centered in Moe, about 121 km SE Melbourne. It was 6.2 miles deep.

Millions across Victoria felt the tremor which lasted for 30 seconds (shaking video below).
Up to four aftershocks were felt immediately around the epicenter in the La Trobe Valley.
Planes were grounded for up to 10 minutes in Melbourne Airport.



The Federal Minister responsible for insurance, Bill Shorten, says he understands it is the biggest earthquake in the area "in 109 years".
The last 1903 earthquake in this area caused extensive minor damage in Warrnambool.
Today's earthquake is also believed to be the strongest earthquake recorded in Victoria since 1982.
Following The joint Australian Tsunami-Warning Center, there is no tsunami threat to Australia.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
