Local seismological center mentions M 4.8 @ 42 km depth with epicenter 42 km S of Lima. Max. felt intensity IV for LIMA

Instituto Geofisico del Peru website is currently overloaded. Since the epicenter is in Sea water at intermediate depth. NO DAMAGE CONFIRMED but will have felt in vast area. Kindly let us know, if you felt this earthquake Click here

Elif Arslan from Lima miraflores: We are tourists from istanbul, experienced about earthquakes..we were staying in miraflores lodge, at night there has been a 10 sec shaking, which was moderate yet frightening enough. The hotel personnel was very cool, relaxed, i think the region is used to such shakes.
Black pixi from Miraflores: felt like a goods train rolling up the road,over in about 3 seconds my 1st 'real feel'
Humberto Portillo from Lima, Peru: It was a stronger, though shorter experience than the quake on Jan 30th, 2012. We are on the 10th floor of an apartment building so we tend to feel the shaking a bit more pronounced than people living on lower floors.

The epicenter is located 25 km far from Chilca. USGS and EMSC mention about 25 minutes after the incident. Got so many Felt Reports, will be updating soon

M 4.8 moderate earthquake (@ 42 km depth) strikes Lima, Peru today with epicenter located just 37 km far from Lima. The epicenter is in the seawater which has somewhat decrease its shaking power
