  • M 4.8 moderate shallow (@ 10 km depth) earthquake in Pakistan. The epicenter is 71 km S Khuzdar, Pakistan where it will be faintly felt. People of Drakola, Gaira jo, Sahra Bidrang, Badri, Kakahir, Langreji of Pakistan will feel it well. It will be faintly felt as far as Karachi, Pakistan

  • M 4.3 very shallow (@ 7 km depth) moderate earthquake in British Columbia, Canada with epicenter located 103 km S of Situk, Alaska. It will be faintly felt in Mosquito Lake, Covenant Life and Yakutat region of Alaska

  • M 5.2 moderate deep (@ 148 km depth) earthquake in Kepulauan Barat Daya, Indonesia. The epicenter is very far from Dili, East Timor. It will be faintly felt

  • M 4.7 very shallow (@ 10 km depth) moderate earthquake in Siberia, Russia with epicenter just 27 km E Saryg-sep. It will be faintly felt in populated area of Kyzyl, Russia. It is the same area where earlier M 6.6 earthquake stuck on December 27, 2011 (@ very strong shallow earthquake in Saryg-Sep, Siberia, Russia)

  • M 4.4 moderate shallow (@ 12 km depth) earthquake in Hualien, Taiwan. It will be well felt by the people of Hualien. Hualien is a populated area with population about 1,08,286. It will be faintly felt in Fenglin region of Taiwan (because of epicenter in Philippine Sea)

Recent Volcanic Activity


  • Spain/El Hierro Recent Volcanic Activity
    -Following recent taken Satellite image, sea stain has grown to almost half the size of the island itself (seen in video aside too)
    -Fishes died and seen on surface floating because of gas escaping from the subsea volcano
    -The most recent El Hierro video aside shows the helicopter view of Submarine volcano area of Restinga, measuring the dissolved gases in the air on the eruption zone
  • Indonesia/Mount Ijen, Bondowoso Recent Volcanic Activity
    -The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) is in ALERT regarding the chance of erupting
    Mount Ijen
    -Near by villages, Kali Anyar, Kali Gedang and Sumberejo at the most serious risk if the volcano erupts
    -Radius of 1.5 kilometers from Ijen’s crater prohibited for local villagers

  • Flooding in Muang municipality of Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand (UPDATED 1/4/2012)
    -In different region flooding caused hospital evacuations, halting airline services and forcing train passengers to continue their journeys by bus
    -Nop Phi Tham, Tha Sala and Sichon declared as Disaster Zone
  • Flood warning in western and southern coasts of Norway
    -Storm "Emil" prediction to cause hurricane went wrong and now warnings of rising sea levels is issued (which may be caused by the Emil)
    -Warning is issued for western and southern coasts (of Vestlandet and Sørlandet) and also southeastern Norway including areas around the Oslo Fjord
    -Sea Levels could rise 60 to 100 centimeters today night (in Oslo Fjord)
    UPDATED: Following f-b.no, "Vinden på kysten av Vest-Agder og Rogaland vil fortsatt være sterk de første timene onsdag morgen, men vil gradvis avta. Det ventes at vannstanden vil øke fram til natt til torsdag på kysten av Vestlandet, Sør- og Østlandet, estimert til 60-100 centimeter over høyden oppgitt i tidevannstabellene, høyest rundt Oslofjorden, opplyste meteorolog Bjart Eriksen ved 3.30-tiden natt til onsdag"

  • Storm "Emil" in Sweden
    -Class 2 warning issued
    -It may cause pose a danger to the public, cause major damage to property and major disruptions in essential services
    -Ferry traffic between the Baltic island of Gotland and the mainland halted
    -More than 15, 000 customers had their power cut off in southern and western Sweden, due to the storm felling trees over power lines
  • BENILDE-12 with current wind speed 20 m/s is active in Indian Ocean. GREEN ALERT

  • Landslide in Piz Cengalo (Alps) area of Switzerland
    -Heavy lanslide below the peak of the 3,370-metre Piz Cengalo

    -Following montagna.tv, "E’ franata la parte alta della parete Nord del Pizzo Cengalo una settimana fa. Il versante svizzero della cima di 3.369 metri, posta al confine tra la Valmasino e la val Bondasca, una laterale della val Bregaglia, aveva già subito un crollo nel luglio 2011. Poi il 27 dicembre scorso se n’è verificato un altro, di grosse dimensioni, che ha danneggiato diversi itinerari di salita sulla montagna"

  2. We all must be ready to face disaters. For this the Emergency and Disaster Management course should be introduced at the very basic level in the academic curriculum.
