April 7, 2020: Recently a WhatsApp message has been viral in India claiming the NASA alert on mega earthquake predicted to hit National Capital Delhi between 7th April to 15th April, 2020.
However, the video predicting earthquake to hit Delhi between April 7 to April 15, 2020 is totally FAKE!
The video which is actually dated back to 2018 claims that NASA predicted an earthquake of magnitude 9.1 in New Delhi.
Similar WhatsApp message was viral in 2018 as well claiming NASA report on predicting a magnitude 9.1 earthquake in Delhi between 7th April to 15th April, 2020.
The message in 2018 also claimed that the earthquake's epicenter would be Gurugram. The earthquake would cause damage in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, J&K to Tamilnadu, Rajasthan to Bihar. For details, people were asked to visit www.nasaalert.com. However, it was just a rumour!
The same video used in 2018 is now viral in India with same date and details.

Can anyone predict earthquakes?
Unfortunately, there is still no way to predict when an earthquake will strike. Scientists have a pretty good idea of where an earthquake is likely to strike, but there is still no way to tell exactly when it will happen, or how big it will be.
However based on scientific data, probabilities can be calculated for potential future earthquakes. For example, scientists estimate that over the next 30 years the probability of a major EQ occurring in the San Francisco Bay area is 67% and 60% in Southern California.
Neither the USGS nor Caltech nor NASA or any other scientists have ever predicted a major earthquake.
Is world going to end on April 29, 2020?
In another news, the earth is said to be fully destroyed on April 29, 2020 due to an asteroid hitting the earth. The news is also fake.
A large asteroid is poised to fly by Earth at that time. Asteroid (52768) 1998 OR2 will make a close approach to Earth on April 29, 2020. However, NASA hasn't announced any asteroid hitting Earth. Click for detail report on this rumour

Yes, you are right. It was also viral two years ago. Here is the part of the news published that time. A message claiming to be a NASA alert on an earthquake prediction in New Delhi has been doing rounds on WhatsApp. The message says that the American space agency had predicated that a massive earthquake of 9.1 or 9.2 Rector scale will hit the national capital Delhi. However, the message concerned is a HOAX
ReplyDeleteThere was a small earthquake just now in Delhi NCR!
