Mississippi Emergency Management Agency confirms 6 deaths due to recent tornadoes

April 13, 2020: The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has confirmed six deaths due to tornadoes across several southern US states.

In Mississippi, three deaths were confirmed in Jefferson Davis County, two in Lawrence and one in Walthall.

Tornadoes touched down in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi.

Mississippi governor Tate Reeves has declared a state of emergency after several tornadoes struck the state.

Around 300 homes and other buildings were damaged in northern Louisiana.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued tornado watches and warnings for several states including Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama.
