Storm Gloria in Spain kills 9, leaves four missing

January 23, 2020: Storm Gloria has claimed lives of nine people and left four other missing in Spain.

More than 200,000 people are without power and weather alerts have been activated in around 33 provinces.

The Spanish meteorological agency has placed 33 of its 55 provinces on high alert. Teruel Albacete, Murcia, Barcelona, Tarragon, Girona, Castellon, and Alicante province have been kept on red alert.

The storm is now moving across the Pyrenees, bringing heavy snow to the mountains. Forecasters had predicted the storm would ease by Wednesday.
