M4.4 earthquake hits Jaggayyapeta — Tremor felt as far as Hyderabad, India

January 26, 2020: An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 has been recorded in Jaggayyapeta, Andhra Pradesh, India at around 2:35 am local time.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake's epicenter was located 27 km far from Jaggayyapeta, Andhra Pradesh, India. The earthquake occurred at 10 km depth.

The tremor lasted for around 6 seconds in Jaggayyapeta area.

People rushed out of their houses with fear in the epicenter area. However,no damage or injuries have been reported.

Light to weak tremors were felt in some parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The earthquake of light intensity with MMI IV was felt in Jaggayyapeta, Kodad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Nandigama, Sattenapalle and Miryalaguda. These all places lies within 50 km of the epicenter area. Similarly the tremor was felt in Khammam, Gudivada, Jangaon, Warangal, Uppal Kalan and as far as Hyderabad.
