Floods in Iran kill 70 across 13 provinces

April 8, 2019: Recent flooding in Iran has claimed lives of at least 70 people.

According to the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), floods killed people across 13 provinces. The floods occurred during Iran's new year holiday of Norwuz.

The southern province of Fars had the biggest death toll of 21, followed by the western province of Lorestan, IRNA reported.

The recent disaster has flooded some 1,900 cities and villages across Iran.
