March 4, 2017: Floods in Zimbabwe which started in December last year have claimed lives of 246 people, injured 128 people and made 2000 others homeless.
The state-owned Herald newspaper reported that the Zimbabwean government has launched an international humanitarian appeal and seeking in excess of $100m to ease the burden the floods have brought. A national disaster has been declared.
According to the Minister for local government Saviour Kasukuwere, floods have damaged 74 schools and burst 70 dams.
