January 22, 2017: At least 15 people died in Georgia and four others in Mississippi after multiple tornadoes rattled the region.
In total at least 62 tornadoes touched down across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina from January 21 to 23, 2017.
Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant has declared a state of emergency. Similarly, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal has also declared a state of emergency in seven counties.
This is the second deadliest tornado outbreak in the United States in the month of January since 1950.
