January 8, 2017: Flash flooding in southern Thailand have claimed lives of at least 19 people and affected more than 700,000 people over the past week.
Thailand's Meteorological Department has forecast outbreaks of heavy to very heavy rain for 13 provinces for two more days.
"The active low pressure over the Andaman Sea, the South and the west coast is moving north slowly into the Gulf of Martaban and Myanmar which will result in heavy downpour in coming days," The Bangkok Post has written quoting the Meteorological department.
The 13 provinces are Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan in the lower Central region, and Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun in the South.
