March 11, 2016: M5.3 earthquake rattles Morocco and Spain today

Magnitude 5.3 moderate earthquake rattled Morocco and Spain today at 04:16 UTC, the United States Geological Survey reported.

According to USGS, the epicenter was located 62 km NNE of Al Hoceima, Morocco and 76 km NW of Melilla, Spain.

The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles.

Tremor was widely felt across El Hoceima, Boudinar, Bni Bouayach, Ben Taieb, Driouch, Midar, Nador, Fuengirola and Torremolinos.

No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported.
