Flooding in Indonesia's Aceh Province evacuates thousands

Flooding in Aceh Province of Indonesia has caused evacuation of 7,597 people in five districts.

Evacuated people have been currently living in meunasah (small mosques) and higher areas in villages, Tempo reported quoting Munawar, secretary of North Aceh Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD).

Heavy downpour for a week have caused overflow of Kreung Peuto, Kreung Pirak and Kreung Arakundo rivers. Atleast 24 villages have been submerged in five different districts of Aceh.

Aceh Disaster Mitigation Agency has also been involved in rescue and disaster relief works.
