Mount Rinjani Volcanic eruption grounds international flights

Mount Rinjani volcanic eruption in Indonesia has forced authorities to close the international airport on Bali on Tuesday, temporarily grounding all flights.

Indonesian authorities closed Ngurah Rai International Airport for four hours until 11.30 pm due to a large ash cloud drifting from Mount Rinjani volcano.

According to Yahoo News, Australian airlines Virgin Australia and Jetstar have already cancelled all flights Tuesday.

On Tuesday night, the Ngurah Rai airport was closed from 7.30 p.m., affecting at least 14 domestic flights and 11 international flights to Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Hikers have been evacuated and all trekking in the popular Rinjani National Park has been stopped.
