Flash floods have claimed lives of at least twelve people in Beheira and Alexandria area of Egypt on Wednesday.
According to state-run Ahram Online, eleven people died in three villages in Egypt’s Delta province of Beheira and one in Alexandriain.
High winds and heavy rains have injured at least 19 people in Wadi El-Natroun, Beheira. The civil defence forces have evacuated around 100 people from Affona after their building collapsed due to the floods.
The Alexandria Port Authority has closed the Bani Ghazi and Mandara and Cleopatra subways, Daily News Egypt reported.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity will pay 10,000 Egyptian pounds to each of the victims' families. Alexandria governorate has declared Thursday an official day off due to severe weather condition.
Unstable weather condition is expected to continue until Friday. Severe weather in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria killed at least six people last month.
