Massive hailstorm in Las Cruces pounds roofs and cars

Massive hailstorm hit Las Cruces with golf ball-sized hail, for about five-minute intervals between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

According to La Cruces Sun - News, hailstorm also caused damage to houses. However no major damage or injuries have been reported in the area, the news confirmed quoting Cruces Police Department Sgt. Roberto Gutierrez.

Las Cruces International Airport, the weather service's official reporting station, recorded 0.37 inches of rain as of 6 p.m. Saturday. 

Low-pressure systems in California and the Gulf of Mexico are causing stormy weather in Las Cruces.
