Typhoon Soudelor kills 28 in China and Taiwan

Typhoon Soudelor has claimed lives of at least 28 people and left several more missing as it battered Taiwan and China over the weekend.

According to China National Commission for Disaster Reduction, atleast 21 people died by typhoon-related impact in China. Fatalities are from Zhejiang, Fujian, Anhui and Jiangxi provinces of China.

Similarly, Typhoon Soudelor killed seven people and injured more than 400 people in Taiwan, Central Disaster Emergency Operation Center said.

Chinese authorities have issued a grade-IV emergency response to Typhoon Soudelor in east China's Zhejiang Province on Sunday, Xinhua reported.

Last week, Typhoon Soudelor hammered the island of Saipan in the Western Pacific ocean leaving trails of widespread damage. President Obama declared the Northern Mariana Island, including Saipan, under a State of Disaster on Thursday.
