A tropical depression in the East Pacific has strengthened into Tropical Storm Ignacio, which is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane later this week as it moves in a west to eventually west-northwest direction.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Ignacio was located 2,460km ESE of Hilo, Hawaii at 2:00 pm PDT (21:00 UTC).

Tropical storm Ignacio is moving toward the west near 6 mph (9 km/h), and this motion with some increase in forward speed is forecast through Wednesday.
Interests in the Hawaiian Islands should monitor the progress of this latest named storm, The National Hurricane Center said. It is currently no threat to land.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Erika which formed late Monday night in the central Atlantic is moving towards the west near 20 mph (31 km/h). Several Tropical Storm Watches have been posted.
