Forest fire in Iran burns 80 hectares – Drones to monitor forests for fire alarms

Forest fire which began Saturday mid-morning has burned around 80 hectares land in Fars province of Iran.

"A total of 80 people from various organizations including police force, department of environment and even locals are trying to control the fire, " Tehran Times has written quoting Saeed Hormozi, head of the local department of environment.

The wind is directing the fire towards Ghomshei Plains of Sarvestan.

"The drones will be employed to monitor the forests for fire alarms," Tasnim News Agency reported quoting Sorena Sattari, Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Affairs. Drones are expected to report fires at the early stages which makes it easy to control.
