Rainfall kills 7 in China's Fujian Province

Heavy rainfall in east China's Fujian Province has left seven dead, one missing and affected 242,000 people.

Heavy rains have destroyed 2,490 houses and damaged 21,300 hectares of farm produce, Xinhua has written quoting the provincial drought and flood prevention office.

Disaster has caused direct economic losses of 2,087 billion yuan (337 million U.S. dollars).

According to the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, the water level in 28 rivers in south China has exceeded warning levels.

The National Commission for Disaster Reduction has launched an emergency response for China's flooded Jiangxi Province.
