Houston, Texas flood 2015 kills 7

At least seven people have died in flooding in Houston, Texas.

Severe weather has claimed lives of 23 people this week, including 19 in Texas, with seven of those in the Houston area.

According to Reuters, more than 4,000 structures have been damaged by floods in Houston since Monday that hit the fourth-biggest U.S. city. Storms dumped seven inches on Austin on Monday and as much as 11 inches overnight on Monday in the Houston area.

The city of Wharton, about 60 miles (100 km) southwest of Houston, issued a voluntary evacuation notice for about 300 homes along the Colorado River. The National Weather Service had issued a new flash flood warning for Houston on Wednesday.

The threat of thunderstorms will persist throughout the weekend, and that there is a 50% chance of them in the Houston, San Antonio and Austin areas, USA Today reported.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the Dallas area on Friday morning and a flash flood watch for an area stretching from central Texas into central Kansas.
