Port Alberni earthquake today measured 4.8

M 4.8 moderate earthquake shakes Vancouver Island, Canada Region today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 62 km W of Port Alberni, Canada. It was 7.7 miles deep.

Port Alberni earthquake today has been felt in Campbell River, Courtenay, Cumberland, Nanaimo, Parksville, Ucluelet, Vancouver, Victoria and Walnut Grove.

Port Alberni was hit by tsunamis in 1964 which washed away 55 homes and damaging 375 others. The tsunami was the result of magnitude 9.6 earthquake in Alaska which killed 139 people.

Port Alberni is a city located in the province of British Columbia in Canada. No damage or injuries have been reported from Port Alberni earthquake today.
