A landslide triggered by torrential rain killed at least 3 people and left 107 others missing on Indonesia’s main island of Java, National Disaster Mitigation Agency said Saturday.

About 105 houses were buried when mud rolled down from surrounding hills late Friday into Jemblung village in Banjarnegara district of Central Java province, National Disaster Mitigation Agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said The Jakarta Post.

About 370 other residents have been evacuated to a temporary shelter.

The local disaster management agency officials, soldiers, police and volunteers are involved in the rescue operations, but the threat of possible repeat of the landslide at the scene is still hampering the operation, Xinhua has written quoting the national disaster management agency.

Landslide caused by torrential rainfall in Jombang, Indonesia had buried at least 14 people in January this year. Landslides and flash-floods are common natural disasters in Indonesia.
