Hurricane Gonzalo kills 1 in St. Martin, threats to Bermuda

Hurricane Gonzalo has claimed life of a person in Saint Martin and injured 12 others in Antigua.

The storm has destroyed 37 boats docked on St. Martin including 22 in Simpson Bay Lagoon. Hundreds of power outages have been reported on the north coast of Puerto Rico.

Hurricane Gonzalo is predicted to hit the Bermuda late Friday night into Saturday with sustained winds of 120 mph and higher gusts possible, AccuWeather mentioned.

Gonzalo has became a major hurricane over the open Atlantic and addition strengthening is expected, National Hurricane Center mentioned in the public advisory issued at 21:00 UTC (05:00 PM AST).

Hurricane Gonzalo was located 530 KM E OF Grand Turk Island and about 1240 KM S of Bermuda at that time.
