Flood in Rishikesh, India claims 5 lives

Flood in Rishikesh, India has claimed lives of at least five people including two children, Press Trust of India reported.

Floodwater swept away five while crossing the drain at Rani Pokhri area of Rishikesh region of Uttarakhand, India.

Light to medium rainfalls have been reported in parts of the state including in capital Dehradun, Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority said.

According to the NDTV News, landslides have obstructed Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway in Chamoli district. Rishikesh-Gangotri National Highway at Netala, Malla, Laldang and Sukhitap, Rishikesh-Yamunotri National Highway at Silaiband have been obstructed due to landslides, Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority added.
