South China floods kill 19, emergency response system activated

Heavy flooding in South China has claimed lives of at least 19 people and left 7 others missing, Xinhua News reported.

Guangzhou, Zhaoqing and Qingyuan cities have been flooded, the provincial flood contorl and civil affairs authorities said.

Recent flooding has affected more than 140,000 people and collapsed around 1,143 houses, flood control department added.

An emergency response system has been activated in Guangdong and disaster relief materials have been dispatched in the natural calamities sites.
