Mudslides in Catamarca, Argentina claim 12 lives, 25 missing

Death toll from mudslide in Catamarca has risen to 12 with 25 still missing, The Catamarca Emergency Committee said.

Mudslides in Catamarca, Argentina have claimed lives of at least five people, Buenos Aires Herald reported.

Heavy rainfall caused mudslides in  El Rodeo and Siján areas. Five women and three children are still reported to be missing.

More than 200 people have been living in the evacuation shelters.

Cristina Fernandez, the Argentine President  has ordered the authorities to assist with local rescue and reconstruction efforts.
