Emergency declared after severe earthquake in Greek island of Cephalonia

Emergency has been declared following the severe earthquake in Cephalonia island of Greece.

At least seven people are reported to be injured by the earthquake.

Schools across Cephalonia (Kefalonia) will be closed Monday to inspect the earthquake damage.

Tremors were even felt in parts of Albania (Tirana) and Italy.

M 6.1 severe earthquake shakes Cephalonia island (Kefalonia) of Greece today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located just 3 km S of Lixourion, Greece. It was 7.7 miles deep.

Several houses have been damage in Lixouri. Dozen of aftershocks have been reported in the area.
