Mali floods: 24 killed in capital Bamako

Flash floods in Mali's capital Bamako have claimed lives of at least 24 people, Internal Security and Civilian protection Minister said in a statement.

At least nineteen people have died in Taliko alone. Bankoni, Taliko, Lafiabougou, Djicoroni Woyowayanko, Lafiabougou Bougouba and Bougoudani areas have been hit by floods.

Looking Mali natural disaster statistics (from 1980-2010; Prevention Web), around 110 people have died in Mali due to natural calamities every year.

Mali is a landlocked country in West Africa.
