Mexico's Popocatepetl volcano prompts cancellation of US airlines

US airlines have cancelled dozens of flights to and from Mexico City after Popocatepetl volcano spewed ash Thursday.

US Airways, Delta, United, American and Alaska Airlines have cancelled their flights. Delta and American airlines have cancelled more than 40 flights into Mexico.

According to Airport authorities, Popocatepetl volcano poses no risk to flights. Mexican airlines have continued their flights, BBC reported.

Popocatepetl volcano lies 40 miles south-east of the airport.
