CA Wildfire burns 7 houses, U.S. Forest Service says

A wildfire in mountains west of Palm Springs, California has burned at least seven houses and about a half-dozen vehicles, the U.S. Forest Service said.

More than 2,200 firefighters, 25 aircraft and six air tankers are currently struggling to control CA wildfire.

A pair of state highways and the Pacific Crest Trail are closed. Similarly a public pool in Indio has also been closed because of ash falling on the water, AFP reported.

The wildfire started Monday between Palm Springs and Hemet.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watches for areas in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California, and Nevada. A Red Flag Warning is the highest wildfire alert.

CA wildfires are active from late Spring through Autumn.
