Philippines: Mayon Volcano eruption 2013 kills 5

Mayon Volcano ash eruption in Philippines has killed at least five people, Philippines based Phil Star reports.

Following Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), phreatic eruption lasted about 73 seconds.

Earlier reports mention, fatalities including a German, an Austrian and a Filipino.

Rescue teams and helicopters have reached Mayon volcano in the central Philippines. At least seven people are injured, Huffington Post reports.

The injured included foreigners and Filipino guides.

According to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, no alert was raised for the volcano following the latest eruption and no evacuation order has been issued.

Mayon is the most active volcano in the Philippines and has erupted over 48 times in the past 400 years.
