Light earthquake in Wellington, NZ today

M 3.7 light earthquake shakes Wellington, New Zealand today, the GeoNet reported.

According to the GeoNet, the quake's epicenter was located 30 km east of Wellington. It was 22 km deep.

GeoNet has received reports of strong to weak shaking. More than 2,000 people have reported weak shaking in Wellington region.

No immediate damage or injury has been reported from earthquake in Wellington today.

New Zealand lies along the boundary between the Australian and Pacific Plates. Wellington suffered huge damage in a series of earthquakes in 1848.
