Hailstorm in Nepal's central region destroys crops

Heavy hailstorm in Nepal's central region of Nuwakot and Rasuwa caused huge damage to agricultural crops and properties, Nepal based Himalayan Times reports.

Heavy storm blew away roofs of Bigyan Higher Secondary School and Ayurved Office in Narjamandap, Nuwakot. All classes have been suspended in the school. Storm also knocked several power lines in the area.

Hail storm damage is worst in Laharepauwa, Kalikasthan, Haku, and Dhunche area of Rasuwa.

Hail storm damage is expected to be Rs. four million in Sindhupalchowk district alone.

The Kathmandu Stadium Disaster in 1988 claimed 93 lives. Incident happened when fans tried to rush from a hailstorm inside the national Dasarath Rangasala Stadium.
