Flooding in Auckland today

Torrential rain has caused flash flooding in Auckland today, Television New Zealand mentions.

Following MetService, about 15mm of rain has been recorded in one hour at Alexandra Park, in Epsom.

Flooding in Auckland today also closed Portland Road.

More bad weather is predicted for the next 24 hours.

Detail Auckland's flood damage report is yet to come.

Met Service has issued severe weather warnings for Northland, Auckland, the Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty and Rotorua.

West Auckland tornado insurance in December 2012 cost $8.7 million. Tornado in Auckland claimed three lives.
