Lightning in Nigeria kills schoolgirl

Lightning in Nigeria has killed a student of Muslim College, Oworonsoki, P.M. news mentions.

Thundering and Lightning occurred shortly after the morning assembly. Lightning hit 19-year old girl who was carried to Gbagaga General Hospital in Lagos and later pronounced dead.

Lightning strikes in Nigeria in June 2011 claimed 15 people. Flash floods claimed lives of six students in Lagos, Nigeria in June 2012.

Lightning protection equipment should be kept to prevent such disaster.

Earlier report by SA Weather Service has shown that more than 260 people are killed each year by lightning in South Africa.
