Hail storms in Kansas: Get disaster kits ready

Hail from 1 to 2 inches diameter hit northwest Kansas, The Hays Daily News mentions.

According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, hailstorm has been reported across Trego, Ellis and Rush counties.

More thunderstorms and hails are forecast in the Hays area today.

Severe thunderstorms will stretch from central Kansas, southward to west-central Texas, accuweather.com reports.

The storm which erupted Sunday in portions of Kansas and Missouri is expected to produce large hail, tornado, lightning strikes and even flash flooding in coming days.

Storms are predicted to move eastward to Omaha, Neb., and Kansas City, Mo., and southward into Oklahoma and Texas.

One of the worst hailstorm in Kansas in June 1992 caused property damage of $500 million.

Wichita officials have urged residents to review their safety plans and disaster kits as worse weather is still to come.
