Earthquake in San Pedro Sula, Honduras

Cracks have been reported in Yoro and Jocon area. However no injury reported.

M 5.5 strong earthquake shakes Honduras today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 7 km S of San Juan Pueblo and 36 km SE of Tela. It was 6.2 miles deep.

Following USGS Pager Map, strong shaking of MMIVI will have felt by the people of San Juan Pueblo. People of Arizona, San Antonio, Atenas de San Cristobal, La Masica and Santa Ana will have felt moderate shaking of MMI V. People of Yoro, La Ceiba, San Pedro Sula, Roatan, Juticalpa, Tegucigalpa, La Ceiba, El Progreso and Belize will have felt light to weak shaking.

The 2009 Honduras earthquake claimed seven lives and was even felt in Guatemala, El Salvador and Belize. Earthquake in Honduras in 2009 occurred in Swan Islands Transform Fault in the Cayman Trench.
