Waterspout sinks boat in Maguindanao, Philippines; 10 killed

At least 10 people including two children have died when a passenger boat sank due to waterspout (twister) in Liguasan River in Maguindanao region of Philippines.

There were altogether 18 passengers in the boat. The boat was hit by a wasterspout in the middle of the Lingusan Marsh. Six passengers managed to survive but two are still reported to be missing.

Victims were returning their homes from Tugal village when the waterspout hit their boat.

Disaster area lies in Maguindanao province, about 900 kilometers south of capital Manila.

A waterspout (water tornado) is formed when tornadoes form above water.
