More than 500 people from along the Atlantic coast ranging from Maine to North Carolina have reported a bright meteor in east of United States, according to the American Meteor Society.

The sky flash was spotted as far south as Florida and as far north as New England.

Following Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environmental Office, the flash appears to be "a single meteor event."

Following SpaceWeather.Com, on March 23, 2013 there were 1389 potentially hazardous asteroids. Note that none of the Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs) is on a collision course with our planet.

Very few meteors actually reach the ground as 99.99% completely disintegrate in the atmosphere.
In February 2013, meteorite injured 500 people in Russia. It was the largest recorded object to strike the Earth in more than a century.
