Landslide in geothermal power plant in Philippines kills 5

A landslide disaster in geothermal power plant in Leyte, Philippines has killed five people. Downpours from several days caused natural tragedy at the Upper Mahiao geothermal field in Leyte.

Heavy downpours from several days has caused a landslide disaster at the Upper Mahiao geothermal plant in Leyte, Philippines. Landslide killed five workers and injured other 11. As of 15:00 UTC, at least seven people were still reported to be missing.

Landslide on 17 February 2006 in Southern Leyte region of Philippines killed 1,126 people. Typhoon Chanchu (Philippine name: Caloy) in May 2006 also caused flash floods and mudslides in Leyte but luckily no causalities were reported (Photo: Leyte, Philippines google map).
