Heavy downpours from several days has caused a landslide disaster at the Upper Mahiao geothermal plant in Leyte, Philippines. Landslide killed five workers and injured other 11. As of 15:00 UTC, at least seven people were still reported to be missing.

Landslide on 17 February 2006 in Southern Leyte region of Philippines killed 1,126 people. Typhoon Chanchu (Philippine name: Caloy) in May 2006 also caused flash floods and mudslides in Leyte but luckily no causalities were reported (Photo: Leyte, Philippines google map).
