Artificial earthquake after nuclear test in North Korea

Recent Natural Disasters 2013: M 5.1 moderate artificial earthquake shakes North Korea today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The artificial tremor was a nuclear test as earthquakes are rare in North Korea.

M 5.1 moderate artificial earthquake shakes North Korea today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located
24 km ENE of Sungjibaegam and 34 km WNW of Hau-ri, North Korea.

The artificial tremor was a nuclear test as earthquakes are rare in North Korea.


Following the South Korean defense ministry, nuclear test yield estimated between 6 and 7 kilotons. Note that the atom bomb the U.S. dropped on Hiroshima was estimated at 16.
Today's North Korean nuclear test is the bigger than previous blasts in 2006 and 2009.

Natural earthquake prediction cannot be done but artificial earthquake can be easily predicted and controlled.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from this artificial earthquake in north korea.
