- Powerful earthquake in Honshu, Japan
-Magnitude 7.3 powerful earthquake hit Honshu, Japan.
-Tsunami alert was issued for wide areas along the Pacific coast, extending from the top of the main island of Honshu down towards Tokyo after aftershocks of magnitude 6.2 hit few minutes later.
-Evacuation order was issued for coastal areas of Sendai, Iwanuma and Ishinomaki in Miyagi and Rikuzentakata in Iwate prefecture.
-Honshu earthquake generate one meter high Tsunami in the Ayukawa district of Ishinomaki city in Miyagi prefecture.
Another 20 cm high tsunami wave was also recorded at Ofunato Port in Iwate prefecture.
Update
At least five people are reported to be injured in Miyagi prefecture of Japan.

- M 6.3 strong deep earthquake in New Zealand (@ 167 km depth) with epicenter located 18 km SE of Tokoroa. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Taupo, Kawerau, Edgecumbe, Rotorua, Tokoroa, Hamilton, Manukau City, Napier and Gisborne. People of North Shore and Auckland will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.
18:19 UTC (local time Saturday, December 08, 2012 at 07:19 AM @ epicenter) - M 5.3 moderate shallow earthquake in Southern Xinjiang, China (@ 16 km depth) with epicenter located 234 km (145 miles) ENE of Qiemo. Just a weak tremor will have felt by the people of Korla and Turpan.
14:08 UTC (local time Friday, December 07, 2012 at 10:08 PM @ epicenter) - M 7.3 powerful earthquake in Honshu, Japan (@ 36 km depth) with epicenter located 245 km SE of Kamaishi. People of Ishinomaki, Yamoto, Ofunato, Kamaishi, Otsuchi, Yamada, Kitakami, Ichinoseki and Mizusawa will have felt light shaking of MMI IV. Weak shaking of MMI III will have felt by the people of Hanamaki and Morioka.
