Recent Natural Disasters
- Landslide in Marakwet, Kenya
-At least 10 people among them three children are reported to be killed in landslides in Elgeyo Marakwet County of Kenya.
-Several injured people are having treatment in the Kamwosor and Kipsaos health centres.
-The landslides occurred in Kocholwo, Simit, Kapsokom, Kaptarkom and Toroplongon areas of Marakwet.
-Heavy rainfall caused mudslide in the area. Following Kerio officials, rescue efforts are still on despite ongoing rain in the affected areas.

17:50 UTC (local time Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:20 PM @ epicenter) - M 5.5 moderate harmless earthquake in Bismarck Sea (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 217 km SE of Lorengau (Papua New Guinea). People of Lorengau will have felt just a weak shaking of MMI II.
07:59 UTC (local time Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 05:59 PM @ epicenter) - M 5.1 moderate earthquake near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan (@ 40 km depth) with epicenter located 25 km E of Iwaki. People of Namie, Kitaibaraki, Takahagi, Hitachi, Iwaki, Kasukabe, Katori-shi, Koriyama-shi, Mito, Sendai, Shirakawa, Tokyo, Tsuchiura and Utsunomiya will have felt just a weak shaking of MMI II-III.
07:19 UTC (local time Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 04:19 PM @ epicenter) - M 4.6 moderate earthquake in Central Peru (@ 99 km depth) with epicenter located 47 km E of Huaral. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Chancay, Chosica, Santa Maria, Antioquia, Chaclacayo, Huanuco, Huayopampa, Lima, Miraflores, San Borja, San Isidro, San Juan de Miraflores and Santo Domingo de Los Olleros.

-Heavy rainfall and coastal flooding is expected in the Pilbara region. - Tropical Cyclone Freda
-As of 12:00 UTC, TC Freda was located 690 nm northwest of Noumea, New Caledonia.
-Cyclone Freda caused flooding in Solomon Islands. Makira is reported to be hardest hit with rising rivers flooding some areas.

- According to Sri Lanka's Disaster Management Center (DMC), nearly 400,000 Sri lankans are still affected by floods, 40 are confirmed dead and 7 are still missing. According to the DMC, since December 17, 398,538 people have been affected by the adverse weather in Southern, Central, North Central, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern, Northern and North Western Provinces.
- Following Civil Protection and Fire commission in Angola, heavy rain killed thirteen people and injured other 15 in the southern Kuando-Kubango province throughout 2012.
