- Avalanche in Siachen, India
-Avalanche killed 6 Indian army troopers on Siachen Glacier near line-of control (LoC) in Indian-controlled Kashmir. One Indian army is still missing in snow avalanche.
-Avalanche rescue teams along with rescue dogs were immediately send to the disaster area.
-A medium danger avalanche warning has been issued for higher reaches of snow bound areas of Chowkibal, Tangdhar, Machhil, Keran, Jawahar tunnel, Uri and Gulmarg areas.
-Siachen Glacier is the highest battlefield in the world located at an altitude of 7,000 meters above the sea level in Ladakh division of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

10:29 UTC (local time Sunday, December 16, 2012 at 06:29 PM @ epicenter) - M 2.8 minor earthquake in Germany (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located just 1 km E Wolken. It will have well felt by the people of Mülheim-kärlich and Koblenz.
05:54 UTC (local time 06:54; 2012/12/16 @ epicenter) - M 4.8 moderate earthquake Offshore Guatemala (@ 72 km depth) with epicenter located 23 km S of Champerico. People of Tocache, Retalhuleu, San Sebastian and Nuevo San Carlos will have felt weak shaking of MMI II-III.

- Tropical Cyclone Evan
-As of 12:00 UTC, TC Evan was located 230 nm northeast of Nadi, Fiji.
-At least four people were killed when Cyclone Evan hit Samoa.
-Fiji has issued storm and gale warnings across a wide area of Fiji, including the Yasawa and Mamanuca areas.
-Cyclone Evan is expected to be as devastating as Cyclone Kina, which killed 23 people and left thousands homeless in 1993.
