  • Bushfire in Port Lincoln, Australia
    -The huge bushfire is burning near Port Lincoln, Australia. South Australian bushfire is now out of control.
    -Fire began at Coomunga and burned out of control through Mungerowie Scrub on the Lower Eyre Peninsula near Big Swamp.
    -Lightning caused multiple fires in cropping land at Tarnma, near Marrabel in the Mid North. Multiples fires are burning throughout the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula and South East.
    -Several schools are closed in the Eastern and Lower Eyre Peninsula and Yorke Peninsula areas today.
    -A bushfire-safe precinct has been established in Port Lincoln at the Curtain Point Bowling Club.

    Update

    Fire is burning about 7 km west of Port Lincoln by 06:00 PM local time. It has so far burnt 1177 hectares.

  • Flooding in Vernonia, Oregon
    -Storm caused minor flooding in Vernonia.
    -The Nehalem River rose six feet in less than a day. Vernonia experienced devastating flooding in 2007.
    Update

    -A hunter killed when a tree crashed on his tent near Nehalem on Oregon's northwest coast.
    -The storm knocked out electricity to as many as 24,000 Pacific Power customers in Oregon.

  • M 3.6 light shallow earthquake in Illinois (@ 17 km depth) with epicenter located 8 km NNE from Bellmont. It will have well felt by the people of Bone Gap, Keensburg, Evansville, Vincennes, Princeton, Olney, West Salem, Albion, Grayville, Noble and Mount Carmel.
    The area is near the New Madrid seismic zone. The largest earthquake reported in the state was a magnitude 5.4 in southern Illinois in 1968.

  • M 5.2 moderate shallow earthquake in Taiwan region (@ 11 km depth) with epicenter located 43 km SE from T'ai-tung. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Kao-hsiung and T'ai-nan.

  • M 2.7 weak shallow earthquake in Montenegro (@ 8 km depth) with epicenter located 12 km NE Niksic. Weak shaking will have even felt by the people of Podgorica.

  • M 4.9 moderate shallow earthquake in Rwanda (@ 5 km depth) with epicenter located 42 km E Kabale. Weak shaking will have felt as far as Kigali.
    The 2008 Lake Kivu earthquake killed 25 people in Rwanda.

    Update
    Earthquake occured on the border between Rwanda and Uganda. Tremor was felt as far as Uganda's capital Kampala.
  • M 3.5 light shallow earthquake in Northern Italy (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located just 1 km W Castell'alfero. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Asti, Turin and Milan.

  • M 4.7 moderate earthquake in Nei Mongol-Ningxia Border Region, China (@ 31 km depth) with epicenter located 16 km N of Yinchuan. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Dawukou, Shitanjing, Shizuishan, Dawukou and Yinchuan.

  • M 4.5 moderate earthquake Offshore Antofagasta, Chile (@ 65 km depth) with epicenter located 31 km NNW of Tocopilla. Weak shaking of MMI II will have felt by the people of Calama and Iquique.

  • M 4.5 moderate aftershocks Offshore Guatemala (@ 36 km depth) with epicenter located 38 km SSE of Champerico. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Pueblo Nuevo Tiquisate, Nueva Concepcion and Retalhuleu.

Erupting Volcanoes: Propocatepetl, Fuego, Reventador, Villarrica, Stromboli, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Erta Ale, Marapi, Semeru, Paluweh, Gamalama, Lokon-Empung, Sakurajima, Ulawun, Yasur, Ambrym, Kizimen, Shiveluch and Kilauea volcano.
  • Guatemala/Fuego recent volcanic activity
    -Fuego volcano produced gray ash columns of 200-500 meters above the crater.
    -The lava flow toward Ash Canyon is still active.

There are no tropical storm activity today.
