Recent Natural Disasters
- Very strong earthquake in Myanmar
-Magnitude 6.8 very strong earthquake shakes Myanmar today. Tremors were felt even in Thailand, Bangladesh and India.
-Atleast 14 people are reported to be killed. Some of the dead are miners who were killed when a gold mine collapsed. Two monasteries in the town of Kyaukmyaung also collapsed.
-The USGS has issued a yellow alert, saying "some casualties and damage are possible" but that the impact should be relatively localised.
-Earthquake occurred at the meeting of the Shan Fault and the Sagaing fault. Today's Myanmar (Burma) quake is the strongest quake in the area since a 6.0-magnitude quake in 1991 (Photo: Crack in a road caused by an earthquake in Tarlay, Shan state, Myanmar in 2011). - M 6.5 very strong aftershocks Offshore Guatemala (@ 27 km depth) with epicenter located 39 km SSE of Suchiate (Mexico). Strong shaking of MMI VI will have felt by the people of Champerico and Ciudad Tecun Uman. Moderate shaking of MMI V will have felt by the people of Puerto Madero, Pajapita, Mazatan and Retalhuleu. People of Tuxtla Gutierrez, Guatemala City, Villa Nueva, Mixco and San Salvador will have felt weak shaking of MMI III. Some days ago, magnitude 7.4 strongest earthquake since 1976 hit Guatemala.

Raghav Singh from Kangra, Himachal pradesh writes, "A shaky earthquake which was really scary occurred at around 2 A.M. on 12 Nov. 2012 which made me and my other batch mates to run out of our hostel in the middle of this freezing night ..... :-(:-( - M 4.8 moderate shallow earthquake in Western Nepal (@ 37 km depth) with epicenter located 39 km NNE of Achham. -Nepal Seismological center mentions magnitude 5.6, moderately dangerous in south of Bajhang district.
-The nearest populated places are Rupsa (15km), Manakot (17km). It is a mountainous region with a maximum altitude of 6903 m. Luckily it is least populated area.
-Tremor was even felt in Rishikesh and Haldwani in Uttaranchal, India. - M 4.6 moderate earthquake Offshore Libertador O'higgins, Chile (@ 20 km depth) with epicenter located 62 km SW of San Antonio. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Cartagena, Melipilla, San Antonio, Viña Del Mar, Santiago, Santa Cruz and Chanco.
05:10 UTC (local time Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 02:10 AM @ epicenter) - M 6.8 extremely dangerous earthquake in Myanmar (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 56 km NNE of Shwebo. Strong shaking of MMI VI will have felt by the people of Shwebo and Mogok. People of Mandalay, Maymyo, Monywa and Sagaing will have felt moderate shaking of MMI V. Tremor was even felt in Thailand's capital Bangkok along with Bangladesh's capital Dhaka and parts of India.

- Flash flood and landslide in Mindanao, Philippines
-A low-pressure area off Mindanao is forecast to cause flash floods and landslides in parts of Eastern Visayas and Mindanao.
-Heavy rainfall and thunderstorm is predicted in Bicol Region, Visayas and Mindanao particularly over the Eastern Visayas, Cagara Region, Northern Mindanao and Zamboanga Del Norte.
-LPA (Pablo) is currently located 350 km east of Davao Oriental.
